(Lets not discuss ranged mercs for this thread plz).

I'm either going to do a melee heavy build, or a Dot/AOE heavy build...and I want to know which is better for PVP, in the late game, in your opinions?....

If I were melee I would do something like Xargr, except I would use axes instead, and BT, until I can get a lady Knight, it would look something like this (hero axe of course):

:exo::malehero::witc:
:vik::vik::bst: ///// :lak:
:mnk::pro::ora::

(and even later, maybe get spartan and pirate, or northern vikings).

I'd seths will my axe line after using beast summon, use exo to deny heals/support, and watch them get torn up, executioner style.

I'm pretty confident I would do very well...and using a purification scroll I may be able to take out dot builds easily.

But what worries me is the other build I'm considering trying, a fortified Dot build, where you can keep reapplying dots/Aoe dmg behind a strong front line, even if someone uses a purification. It would be with a cannon main using Chaos wind, and it'd look something like this:

:swm::swm::witc: ...One or both swords could eventually be:lak: //// :spt:
:art::exo::bst:
:mnk::malehero::ora:

You'd have Beast Summon, Meteor, Deep Insight, and Chaos Wind. You could even have the swordies use Dark Seed for a little extra Dot Dmg (just an idea to throw out there). Because you have a strong front line you could sustain dots for a long time, healing as needed, casting AOE's and DOT's as they come up, and preventing them from healing with your EXO. I could, and heck probably would have my Oracle take Vortex to combo with my eventual LK, at high levels.

Both builds have merits, but which would be more effective in PVP, what do you guys think?

What if my dot build went against my melee build, would it win?

The DoT build wins if it manages to pull off WarCry (coupled with mana trap perhaps?) to counter the Seth's Will.

Also, the horrible AP regen (and LOW mdef) of the two vikings doesn't help for the melee build.

Well I'd have seths on the vikings so I figured that'd make up for it.

Better to go Axe Main and be in the mid line instead with your main to make your Seth line Viking / Axe / Beast Trainer.

Why is that better?

Also nothingxs, I would really like your opinion as to which of these 2 builds is stronger in PVP? =)

I don't like either of them. There's a Witch in the front. Put your Witch away.

Axe mains are better than running two vikings because Axe mains as a whole are infinitely better than Vikings. Also, you can't have two Northern Vikings, so its better to just go ahead and use one Northern Viking, one Axe main and one Beast Master for a full-axe mid line.

For a melee build, just ditch the Witch outright and run Sword / Exo / LK, replace your Sword with a Spartan later on.

:spt::lak::exo:
:vik::malehero::bst:
:mnk::pro::ora:

That would produce a relatively strong melee build. Your biggest problem is realistic lack of field control that only AP denial provides through spearmen, but on the flip side very few people run Rusty Axe so you will probably crank great melee damage out instead. Spartans will eat you alive because of War Cry turning down your damage output, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Holy Guard it off on a turn where they have no stun counters on them and just keep attacking as normal. If you break a hole in the middle you suddenly have access to the ability to freeze up TWO rows. That can always come in handy.

As for your AoE build, I just have no comment. It needs a bunch of work.

Wow. I would have thought an almost exact copy of Xargr's build would be good. Guess not...

As for an aoe build, could you point me towards an example of a good one?
