Are there any competitive high level archer mains on the other servers?

So far in mid 70s the two things that I've found useful is being able to use a high evasion and durable main to hit scrolls, and occasionally throw 2nd/3rd row silences as mana seal wears off.

Then again, so could a normal archer merc, and prophet is as durable and seems to be favored in the Korean tourneys.

Most high level archer teams I see are just 5 archers(including main), exo, princess, monk, and the last spot w/e they want.

Usually they're not that good agaisnt meele main mercs since they have higher def and can tank a round of arrows. But against other ranged mains they can win really fast...

Saw two 95+ bow mains do well in WK/FL (one won) but only thing I could really mention special to having a bow vs anything else was a hard double crit on a backrow monk, and 1 silence that landed 2/3 row (but fortunately was enough). Overall though, haven't been able to observe or experience very much that would have given me a strong feeling of "Good thing this was a bow main instead of a[n] axe/cannon/gun/sword, it wouldn't have done nearly as well this fight."

I was actually thinking alot about this, and thought that a formation like this could work really well in pvp. Something like...

:lak::spt::exo: (ofcourse spartan isn't out yet, sub without another tank of your choice)
:malehero::can::art:
:vik::mnk::ora:

The idea of this formation is to add DoT pressure while being able to still stun/freeze them.

Cannoneer + Art for deep impact + smoke bomb
Main bow for Chaos Wind/silencing (try to silence exo/viking if they're in front two row to stop mana seal/freeze)
Viking in back so you can constantly freeze/if tank in front gets on low hp you can switch him out.

Something along the lines of this.
Was thinking of putting a witch in there somewhere but doesn't seem to have enough room. :/

One of the bows I mentioned had basically that, BM instead of spartan, and inventor in place of one of the cannons (I guess doubles as a cannon with the machine).

I'm scrapping my witch because despite it's capable role of aoe pressure, the downtime and lack of stun annoys me doesn't go quite as well. Doesn't help I don't have a cannon already.

I hardly see any archer main except back in the CB days. As they stand now it is probably not worth while playing one with all the nerfing they put on that class.

Archers not that easy to play with especially with the nerf hes been getting. Definetely a tricky late game main.

Guess i will make a char in Thebes just to watch his match. Hardly see any archer main that it would be interesting to see one of the best in action.

Yeah the merc sucks..but I've been finding silence is useful staggered with mana seal, or preventing a freezing axe/mana seal from the enemy. Just a little tricking keeping track not only of your own mercs, but the enemy's cool downs as well.

Exo mana seal doesn't quite render archer silence useless.

e.g. mana seal only works on staffs. silence can silence for example...ppl who run 1 axe, 1 viking so u can temporarily save your ass from double freeze. or silence a cannoneer so no smoke bomb.

However, if you want silence, really, just get a bow main. rarely see ppl who actually use the mercs, but I do run into a few bow mains occcasionally.

I believe they are starting to get more popular with the rising of AOE pressure builds, the archer merc is kinda bad but the main has chaos wind and better damage so its still a usefull choice.

Might be, but the added silence from archer might be handy, and if you compare archer/cannon as main and their merc counterparts having a arty and yourself as bow main might be more efficient, in the end of corse it all comes down to preference, obviously you could even run the setup without an archer, but the silence from the archer paired with mana seal can lockdown the other team specially if your fighting against another AOE pressure build.

HoLY on Sikyon is one of the top pvp on the server. He runs..

He's really successful and usually goes either all the way in weekly championships or disconnects at finals. Norther viking btw, so its got better resistance to flame swords and such.

Meh, I feel that what the cannon main would have is deep insight. Wouldn't hiring a merc do the same?
