Like the annoying noob I am I just skimmed the rules, so I apologize in advance for any infractions.
I've begun to be very disheartened by higher level PvP. The high-class mercs and high level equipment are so expensive that I've pretty much given up ever reaching this game's actual PvP endgame...which honestly doesn't seem as fun to me as the midgame, from the tier 0 matches I've observed.
So, since I did enjoy PvP before every match ended with my face being smashed because I can't afford decent mercs, I'm considering making a new character, selling my bad high level gear and buying excellent lower-level gear, and just not doing the questline after a certain point, so he stays below level 100. I'm considering level 89 for this, since that would allow my main to use the level 80 main rings, my mercs to use indy dungeon weapons, everyone to use charms, and, if I use a sword main, my main to use the main-only weapon, all while avoiding anyone with an elementalist unless I'm matched a division above my own. I'm considering sword main largely because it can use its unique weapon at this level and without elementalist I see no reason I can't pull off a melee main, but that's actually open for change too, if you think another main would be better for this.
I'm considering this formation, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
:vik::bst::witc:
:can::pro::malehero: (sword)
:exo::ora::mnk:
It's pretty range-lite, but after prophet and before elementalist, hwarang, and empress, it seems like melee would actually still be pretty good. I'm wondering if I should go with arty over cannoneer, so I can go mad AOE with cursed-sword-boosted Break Down, but that wondering comes entirely from not really understanding why Deep Insight, Ravaging Melody, and Beast Summon go so well together on every noob build ever, so maybe not. It seems like Smoke Bomb would be worth more here.
Another question is whether I should get rid of the witch for a princess and frontline the exo (or the main, if his vit turns out to still be up to it with cursed sword taking so much away...I'll probably end up rotating like crazy no matter what, I know), so I have some recourse against the sherrifs and vampires which I will still encounter at this level, and which I may be unable to focus down without many ranged mercs.
Should I save up for vampire to replace oracle? That seems like it might work nicely with frontline witch discouraging damage by rows and encouraging damage by columns, but I've never used her and rarely see her healing in action. I guess I could save up and replace the cannoneer with sherrif or vampire, but it seems like I would lose too much stun pressure.
Any suggestions, or even vague comments on the pre-100 metagame, would be appreciated.
