Investigation : The Material Box [REG]

So, as someone who is trying to grasp the market inner works and crafting, i find it quite lacking that people rarely will share information regarding the mechanics behind these things...

So, i took a small step for myself and went ahead to check it out. Boxes are the weapon of choice, and im going on 100% trials (so i get 100 boxes and check each one out.)

In Argos right now, 100 Material Box [REG] runs you down 37k

By Purchasing 100 Material Box [REG] By UNDER the rate price (the cheapest ones) and then reselling most of the material (if not all) ALSO by under the rate price, you make your cash back, and then some. Also, allowing Crafters to Get HUGE amounts of materials and cutting back their losses right there.

I would REALLY like to see more people do stuff like this with other types of boxes... it really is a win-win situation for all players

very interesting that you pick Material box. Is very rare that you could get usless things but than again, you are opening 100 box so it add up.

did you sell? and how much you made of it?

another way to do is enchant box [int]
open up and you might get 1 and most likely you will get 2 stones.
resell it at the same price you brought the box. but you make your money back with one of the stone, and you gain money from the other stone ;)
is kinda 50/50. but my frist try, i made 5million off it :)

I posted almost everything there for sale, waiting to see the final outcome, as i always place my items under the Market price... im crafting rings, so Pearls and Iron Sand is major to me... but if i just sold the pearls i would already turn a good profit

Pearls on Argos go for 500 i got 209

209 x $500.00 = $104.500.00

That without selling all the other itens and having payed just 37.000.00 for the whole deal... you can turn in a 70% profit easy!

Plus, i did it once (but didnt record it... sorry) and got Phoenix Crystal, Redemption Crystal and That Superior Form of Ashen Crystals that i forgot the name... rare itens do come in these boxes!!

Also, another good trick... farming for Spirit Boxes, getting the gear and turning it in Earth Shard with the Hammer. The boxes are free, but you can easily get 20-40k out of the earth shards... again, going just under market price.

Problem with that though: box opening limit. Opening 500 boxes [reg] leaves you unable to open anything else, which could hinder your ability to enchant/do other things.

Still seems like a decent way to make money, although I'm still not that certain that it's worth it compared to other methods. A treasure chest run can net an average of 200k easily for five minutes, and it will, at most, set you down by about 4 box openings. Same with (possibly) gambling or other forms of profits.

Sure, there are a bunch of endgame solutions and even quite a few mid game solution... but finding things you can do early in the game that arent Chance... that's the real trick.

Why would you need to be high level to do treasure boxes? I did most of my maps when I was about level 30. Don't do them nearly as often anymore. If you're worried about the teleport issue, spend an evening to run around and get all the towns - it's worth it. And you can do it at any time. As for high level mobs, there's usually a safe area you can wait at until the treasure box spawns, then run in and grab it. You can usually get in and out with no worries. Unless you're talking about the price, in which case you should know you can buy them for 100% will from traveling merchants in towns - watch the notice box for rumors about which town has a seller for them.

Well I gotta say thank you! I used to open these boxes a lot and just store mats but I kept hurting for inventory space so stopped doing it but some of these, especially the really high lvl ones seem to be worth it even just for getting some expensive mats for less than the fixed prices.

Unfortunately, it's all a matter of box price. After reading this, I went happily to the market, wanting to buy 100 artisan boxes, following Marisa's advice, and I was greatly disappointed.

The artisan boxes on Mycenae don't cost 310 gold as in this post, but are more around 5.000 gold, defeating the purpose of making profit with them (unless all the materials sell higher too, which I'm not sure) :mad:

Im on Silkyon and I find Artisan's boxes for about 2-4k. Buying 300 of these, I can still make a heft profit of at least 2mil :)

thing is.. i refuse to buy stuff thats same or -1 of fixed price.. if im buying in bulk which i usually am for crafting. i would rather less clicking and just buy the fixed priced one unless they have a few k of it. soooo... i might be slightly less profit than you think.

bleh i like expert mat boxes, i get alot of jewels from them xD, bought 100 at 5k each, 500k, open them and i get a total of 13 redemption jewels and 11 phoenix jewels, not bad =) bout 600kish each last time i checked, 600kx24=14.4m-500k 13.9m =)

Meh. I'm far too lazy to open so many boxes, which is most likely the reason why I'm kinda poor right now. The only reason why I'm not poor as /dirt/ right now is because of the two teleportation license you get from Isis's quest. xD;;
