I've heard a few times that having a single gunner in a formation is a bad idea, but never exactly why. My friend uses one gunner, and he swears by it. So, what's the big secret on why not to have only one.

i think cause the damage done to the 2nd and 3rd row isn't that big, so in order to really hurt your opponent, you need more than 1 gunner to do the job; but i gues it would be good also if u use it along with another merc that compliments it's AoE, like another gunner lol, or a pair of spears, a cannon.

so basically, anything that'll help em damage more

get a inventor gunner, he does more dmg then normal gunner and can summon a cannon to help u stun. In my opinion is way more useful.

Stunning always works in pairs. 1 column is easy to awaken. 2 simultaneously...you gotta make a choice. Of course, you could double awaken, but that requires saving up some AP w/ an exo and not HGing.

if you were going to go one gunner, it would have to be an inventor and you could use him in conjunction with a cannoneer and maybe a cannon main

i have seen a friend of mine uses 4 gunners. 3 merc and 1 main. with spearmen in first row. he killed everything pretty quickly.

i also have only 1 gunner, thats because i love to have a variation in the party. just like any fantasy stories, you always have a spread of classes. :)

Heh, me too - but it's not the strongest in PVP. However, I am pretty damn good at PVE, I think, and I don't have trouble with, say, flying mobs like a lot of other people. *cough*melee heavy formations*cough*

I will also say that gunners are terrific in the training center - they just plow through the columns of low level mobs. I intend to one day have several high level gunners just for the training center. :)

that is cuze awakening can easily solve the potential stun coming from a lone gunner, and sometimes, a lone arty too. Normally, I'd suggest ppl get a pair, so the monk can't quite awaken every merc hit. mana seal makes the stun count go up, since monk can't awaken when sealed. at least 1 gunner, 1 arty, also could do. just...not one lone gunner, and no other unit that's capable to help in stunning.

thats just my opinion on why gun doesn't quite work alone. i had a lone gunner b4 I ditched her. just can't get a stun coming in. But pve, lone gunner could do.

yep right...but if your gonna use the gunner in pve ask yourself this do you really want a silly ranged unit with low hp/def just so you can hit the back of a row with 1/4 damage?

you would be much better off with a spearie since his attacks are much more powerful and he also has the ap drain.

and saying that melee heavy formations suck vs flying is just silly.you just need to use up food or rest a bit after a fight with fliers.nm the fact that melee can kill them much quicker with 2 fs at the max.

Unless your gunner are a janissary/inventor, everything else about gun sucks

I agree 1 gunner is not efficient.. Inventor sure, maybe even Jani if you like variety. I have 3 gunners in my party and all you see are purple halos.
