formation for FL

what is the better formation in FL: one with variety of jobs for all rounder or one with specialized jobs such as 4 swordies or 4 spearmen type?

and why?

My guild leader has criticised what he calls "rainbow" formations. A bit of everything and no specialization.

As he is a pvp legend, I listened to him.
"It's better to specialise in something than being a jack of all trades, master of none."
Like spears/gunners are best in pairs/triples

Anyways yea, meele heavy builds are dominating...I had 3 range mercs out for a bit but I just couldn't handle going against 6 meele mercs, a prophet, and monk + oracle...

So I tossed my inventor that I spent 150 dragon crystals on... maybe someday I'll bring him back in when they nerf meele mercs or something like that...

He advised against rainbow builds which are trying to have a bit of everything.

Specialised builds are the best.
Whether they be melee heavy, 3 spears, etc.

I was surprised myself too. Maybe it's a fluke win? Who knows? Although the result was pretty significant 3:1.

Interesting, would be cool to pit weekly winner from all servers together in a "best of the best" tourney

well, it won't b fair since the oldest servers will have stronger ppl :P top in argos isnt even 100 yet >.> nevermind have crazy gears

im doing fine being a jack of all trades atm :P later on planning to have multiple merc in storage so i can switch to accomodate for enemy formations eg bring out da cannons if they got no monks >=D

the only merc that work good in doubles/triples r gunners/cannons/spears
but i dun see how spears r good in double/triple unless u use lightning spear, i understand gunner/cannons tho

at late game, many ppl's formation will only have 1 of each merc, lk/spartans/oracles/bt/witches/ etc. but sum still have art/cannon or sumthing :)

hmmm,

if I'm not msitaken many top players have dbl or triple spearmen.
Lightning spear is a killer at the higher lvl's
