yap, it's the first or second step - and after that u have to cast royal signet a few times.

Haul her out of your merc room when you turn in quests and she should be up to 50 in no time. If you (general you) haven't done the Shogun Castle quests yet, do it then. She shoots up in levels.

Yes it is true, You must have a lv 50 princess + royal signet in order to get Inventor.

I think the dev done this intentionally because no one uses or want to lv a princess so instead of making feel lonely and unwanted like a rat on the street. They decide to force u to use her and lv her so she feel she has some use.

Do NOT put any points into princess skills if you don't plan on using it. Before upgrade she can only use two skills, you need the 2nd to be Royal Signet.

During a cleanup, I emptied my inv of imperial signet books into her, and eventually had to spend the redemption crystals to upgrade her to 3 skills for the Royal Signet part of the quest.

Haha, I did the same...

I got my skill to like level 20 before I noticed it was the wrong one...skill decrease books were more expensive back then so I had to upgrade her. >.<

also, before you start the quest, you can quest craft the item in advance.
you need lemon drops (i forgot the amount) but the materials are as follows:

100 lemons
100 honey

thats should be enough

also there are items you need for the quest:

10 crystals

Only get the below item if you are planning to reset inventor quest, otherwise, it is not necessary.

5 multi-hued crystals shard (you can buy materials that is required and craft it)

have machine lv 2.

Not that I've found. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few that do require someone specific, though.
