Anyone here have an in depth knowledge of fishing? Is it better just to fish with skill 1/100 or upgrade. Cost vs time etc. Right now i make 300k per 6 rods at 1/100. and about 2hours of work.

it seems to be more of a hobby then job lol. But i guess you could say that is true to real life. I am going to try again and see how i fare when prices of rods go down 25k for a bamboo rod is crazy i was paying 12-14k

u can use fish to restore hp/mana and it consume only 1%will
u can change fish for fishing points and exchange for some items in rome in bazar (u use this item to craft lvl 50 and highers items)

Very, very quick overview of fishing:

At levels 1-30 of fishing, you use bamboo poles and spoiled bait. You use better poles and bait at higher levels.

You go to Hainan island by Hanoi and stand in the water with your poles and your bait. You click on 'V' and do 'auto' and get your fishing started. Every 30 seconds you use up a piece of bait and you have a chance of a: getting nothing b: getting a fish c: getting a box (usually material, sometimes oyster shell or cultural) d: your pole breaking. Then it happens again 30 seconds later if you still have a pole/bait.

You turn in your fish right on the island for fishing points. You can then talk to Pointry in Rome for stuff in exchange for your fishing points - powders of life/spirit, still beating hearts, etc..

Higher levels of poles/bait give you better fish and better chances of catching fish instead of nothing. However, you can't use the higher levels until you have a certain level of the fishing action. There is no difference, though, between level 1 and say level 20 of fishing action - you don't have a better chance of getting fish/better fish until you change poles/bait.

It's expensive to fish, and you only do it when you're afk (because it's bloody boring). However, it's nice to never have to worry about getting powders or hearts. Up to you if you think it's worth it.

To fish, you need to use fishing[beg] then just go to Hanian island and let it auto fish for you while u afk.

It's never worth it to fish just for cultural boxes. You get those more easily from treasure maps, and those are much more readily available AND profitable.

It is a nice sport for powders though - much quicker than shadow dungeons (not to mention doable even while AFK). You can exchange fishing points for hearts, but most of the crafts that use hearts conveinently also require warrior's sign, which are coincidentally not exchangable for fish points. Apparantly, according to my friend, he gets greater results using lower-level fishing equipment with higher level fishing (~600 powders per trip, from what he told me), though I could never confirm this.

I don't even have this skill et but I will soon once I run out of gold to auto craft ( and crystals hehe ) but my question is are the poles stackable and same for the bait :)

...and now I know what fishing is. I don't think it looks like I'm going to, I hardly ever AFK my guy (shared computer, other family members don't want me tying it up) and... I don't like fishing. A good explanation, nonetheless.

Actually, it's quite easy to AFK in atlantica online and not be a hinderance. Just set the game to window mode (lowest quality), put it somewhere in the background, and let your family members do other stuff meanwhile. Atlantica takes up very little resources in the background, effectively allowing you to AFK while not tying up the computer.

Not liking fishing is fair, though =D. I hate fishing as well; I would rather spend the AFK time autocrafting than gaining a few powders (that I could get from a few minutes in Mohenjotaro, along with giant crystals)

Fishing is more like some have said a hobby then a way to make money. The reason is, fishing is very expensive to start and the result can vary so it may or may not return the investment you put in.

In the main forum i saw a thread where a guy claim he have max his fishing but say it is a huge money sink but i dont know if that is true or not since there is no proof or more ppl to support this view. Maybe some experience fisherman can help us from their experience, to see if it is something worth going to or not and lv it higher.

Yes, they're both stackable up to 10,000. :)

Crafting is 10x more worth it then fishing, I don't even understand why it's in the game :P

It is to give ppl other thing to do so they wont be bored and quit the game. Usually these little additional stuff are added to keep ppl entertain. Not everyone just want to grind their life away.
