I was wondering at what lvl did you attempt to kill this overgrown spider? My main is 46 at the moment and most my mercs are ranging from 42-45. My mercs were dying left and right after a few turns. I got frustrated to a point where I'm thinking of dedicating a few days straight up lvling to lvl 50+ or something. Any tips on how to effectively kill this beast? I heard you cannot use scroll to get reinforcements from nearby monsters, is this true?

are you trying to kill all the mobs or just punch up the middle to get at boss? remember if your haveing trouble with a boss try to take out as little as possible to get to the boss and not waste time on the fodder around it .. also look at your gear if your wearing sea king or what ever upgrade it will help :)

I always punch up the middle to get to the boss but I can't seem to kill it quick enough. It seems like the boss is a cannon type beast huh? My gears are pretty lousy, that maybe one of the problems lol, mostly ocean types with a splash of insects here and there.

It's actually better to take out most/all of the mobs first.

What I tend to do is to make a whole in the front middle, so you're reaching the boss. (depending on how many vikings/axe main) you have you can freeze on the way.

Most boss's usually have mobs that can rez, so make sure to loot whenever you kill or kill them first; but since this is a lower level boss that can be frozen/stunned, try to reach and freeze the boss.
If you have no vikings, you can always kill the middle one and constantly lightning spearing the boss, then he'll have lower ap and can't attack, or you can try to stunn him, once he gets stunned focus on other mobs.

bosses are pretty simple, tear through the middle, keep urself healed, and most of the time the boss will die before you do. At least this is how it works for the low level bosses :)

You can use scroll of reinforcements during the fight, but not scrolls of bewitching.

Thanks all for the wonderful suggestions.

And thank you for the clarification :)

The reason that the boss is hard is due to its cannon attack like you said. There's also hell spiders with cannon attack as well as tarantulas with a ranged spear attack. Best way I see is vortex scroll, freezing, and taking out the allies before the boss. As for reinforcement, there's like only 1 mob there, so if the boss gets it first, it's pretty much hopeless.

debuffing boss is also a good idea so he does not do too much dmg,and oh silence from archers works on boss very well

Best way to kill him is to kill in one column until you can freeze the spider king, then focus on killing all the adds until you can send out all your attacks on the spider king.

Remmember to keep your front line under HG(holy guard) to prevent spiders from using their nasty skills :)

Nice suggestion. thought spiders attack was ranged like the archers so didn;t know that HG would stop all that magic attacj nastiness. Will have to try it out.

I seriously and I mean seriously had so much trouble with this boss, not because of the boss really but mainly his dastardly hell spider minions and their nasty deadly shot skill.

I could kill the boss but the hell spiders from other mob would finish me off.
In the end I admitted defeat, went straight for the boss and picked up the item before being decimated again by those hell spiders.

Even now they plague me in training center... they're like my party's nemesis.

Will have to show them who is boss ;):art:

I killed the boss at around level 42-43.

One of the most important things for this boss is decent equipment - not necessarily insect, but at the very least get a few angkor wat boxes and enchant them to +2. The other important thing is to realize that the hell spiders and the boss are the most dangerous mob in the entire encounter, and that you want to kill them ASAP.

Kill them, or stun-lock them within three turns. For that matter, the latter would be the better choice, since you actually want to kill all of the surrounding mobs before attempting to take him. If you have a cannon, bombard the back row of hell spiders and try to save a few ranged attacks that could reach the back row for when the art. runs out of AP. That way, the back row of hell spiders (boss included) gets stunned by turn 4, and you get two free turns to pick out enough of the front lines to freeze the back row.

One of the main things to remember in this fight is to save your healers. Your monk could holy-guard the front line as a safeguard against poison from wasps, and your shaman's turn should always be saved. On that note, the middle-line for this boss is the most vulnerable with the lower-defense ant queen guarding the front. Kill it, do not loot their corpses, stun the last row with artillery, and freeze the middle.

Soldier ants are nothing to worry about. Against hell spiders, you should try to watch their HP whenever possible and make sure to silence them when they get low enough to use deadly strike. It's a good idea to NEVER attack with the shaman here. In fact, if she gets a turn and you don't need her healing, don'tn even defend; even 50 AP is precious in this battle.

And, of course, kill all of the minions before killing the boss. The minions have much lower HP than the boss (IIRC they take damage normally rather than the increased defense that most bosses sport), and once the boss is alone and isolated, you will kill it and you will win. No questions needed.

Hm, I did this at lvl 40 and I have no problems at all. The boss was even yellow when I killed it.

If I am not mistaken, i HG my front row, i got 2 spears tearing the middle, then i use freeze.

I also got an artilery to keep stuns in check.

The bosses HP is not much, so should be able to kill it quick.

I'm a big fan of slicing my way to the boss then freezing it. Attacking it at least once each turn so it keeps getting stunned. Perma-stun it and kill it at my leisure.

got 3 stars info of this boss.....phewh wicked....

1) HG the front and ur line(deadly shot can take place anyway so ur main should be HG too)

2) ants will try to stun with 2 slice row attack so be make sure to awaken

I didn't have a chance to kill the boss until lvl 52 lol. I was busy doing BT quests here and there. It was a piece of cake at that level. The battle lasted less than 3 mins. I just punched up the middle and get to the boss.

Same here :D I have scrolls on my quick slots but I rarely used them. Usually I have them loot if they're not doing anything :D

Actually using scrolls doesnt consume AP. Only when they are activated they consume 50 AP. So after you use your scrolls, you still can pick or attack.

But you still use a turn for your 5 mercs?

HardcoreGamer

You can click it then guard it to pass to other merc =/

Same when activated.

MrSharp

I mean when you initially activate the scroll. This uses 1 turn (out of the 5 you have for each round)

HardcoreGamer

You mean when the scroll is been used or put in action? For me activate means put in action...

If you meant when the scroll been used, no, it does not consume a turn.

Of you ,eamt activated, no, it consumes 50ap but still out merc retain the turn.

I am not far to getting this quest, before I even started on the quest that has me going into the spiders, I wanted to test them out, and see how I fared with them. I had to resurrect my monk and shaman. those spiders are either smart or it just so happens that first encounter they just got lucky. but they all went for my monk then shaman first, then attacked my front line. I won the lil fight, but saw I neeeded some rethinking.

I looked at my gear and saw why my shaman and Monk died so quick . . lol half their equipment is still Spirit.
So I see here from reading, having Angkron gear +2 or better, use HG on front line, and punch up the middle, and the boss should be done with ?

BTW thx for this thread, it'll help me survive getting there.

Haha, equipments are essential against bosses! You might be able to kill off normal mobs but usually boss fights are long so you need to be prepared.

i have two friends who tried the boss more than 5-6 times before succeeding.
i tried one time at lv44 and got it through in 4 rounds i think. i charged at the king when i saw two other mobs nearby.

first round: activate reinforcement scroll (my swordie) and start punching middle line.
second round: spear, gun, magic the centre line (two reinforcements arrived at the same time)
third round: my new 'friends' made a quick work on the king's henchmen while i concentrate on the king.
fourth round: everything was flattened.

:) that's the fastest boss fight ever.

I actually had a much worse time with Night Fox than with the Spider King - the scrolls of reinforcment are just so perfect for him. :P

then wait til you fight dracula, I think he's even worse than elizabeth, incubus is a dracula copy, but at least you could gank him in a party.

Dracula was a lot easier for me than Elizabeth - it's just that Dracula is flying, so a lot of people get thrown by that, especially if they're melee-heavy. King Khufu remains the absolute worst solo boss I've ever fought, though. I only finally finished him (after dying several times) using rez and healing scrolls.

on contrary... i killed Dracula with no difficulties nor casualties. :)

also Dracula is a solo boss.

I took the Spider King at level 41. He used a Scroll of Reinforcement on me to bring in a bunch of adds right as I killed him. I had a Power Potion on though so it was pretty easy. I think it's worth it to just use the Power Potions you get daily for logging on for an hour on bosses since you don't tend to need them for anything else.
