I mostly gave walacha weps (that were cheap) from around 1-500ish

After that since I was higher level, I started giving anu armors, they have a fixed price of 100k+ and go for 35-50k in the market. I'd get about 22k each from one of those for every merc.

Yea, it's good and cheap but once you reach higher levels it's not worth it. Getting 22k exp per gift > 7k exp. :p

Not 100% sure but I think it has to do with your total exp since at 94 I wasn't getting that much per, but when I jumped to 95 I got like 22k exp instead of 17k exp.
And if you don't know 95-96 has a huge exp increase compared to 94-95

It also doesn't just depend on your main's level. For my 1000th gift I gave 1m gold, so I thought I'd be tricky and get some new mercs first for the exp. So I got a couple lvl 1s in my party and then did the gift, and got something like 9600 exp >_> (don't remember for sure).
