top 8 in korean tourny? i can't read korean so i'm not sure but when u click on the mains you can see their formation. 1 thing to note 5 axe mains ><

Oh man, every single one of them uses a spartan but only one uses a lady knight. Number 4 even runs a swordsman over a lady knight. Methinks there might be some strategies we're not aware of.

On a sidenote- it's hard to draw strategies from KAT because the game mechanics are not identical.

Given the amount of axe mains, I'd say it's pretty likely they are. BUT, notice no cannon mains? I find that a bit strange. Actually, for the majority of them I find the formations a bit unusual which causes me to question it.

Wouldn't the strategy be obvious? The only reason you would use a swordsman over a LK would be because of their skills. Everything else the LK excels at. The only skill that would really get me to choose a sword over a LK is deadly strike. I mean the merc will be on the front line taking most of the damage. Plus many of those korean players run front line mains, so the deadly could be focused with other attacks on the main, or just a nice way to take out one of their mercs in 1 turn.

Exo, Pro, Ora, Mon, LK, Spa

Take that how you will, but when you restrict the main to an Axe or Cannon like the top tier tend to do, you don't have too many build options.

What were you looking at? Number two and five use a shaman over an oracle, and number two uses a princess over a prophet. Only seven and eight use a lady knight at all. However, all of them use a spartan and only eight doesn't use an exorcist.

Hmm, i think the reason is because the LK is just purely a tank? Any comments over this?

Yeah, these are the 8 qualifiers from Seoul. (capital of South Korea). From what I can tell, the winners face the best from the other cities later.

I don't see the swordsman, Looks like artilleryman to me.

It's safe to say that spartan replaced LK because there's simply no room for her with all those axe main tanking up the front line.

Axe main, Exo, Spartan.


She gets ditched since she doesn't do as well with Brutal/Seth and the 2nd line is all for multi target DPS, no tanks.

So assuming there were no Spartan, I bet they would all use LK for that spot.

A note on Princess, I notice she hits 3x a lot more than any of my mercs and she does do extra damage to melee, maybe Will'd Princess is the way to go! :D

What's funny is that with no Swordsmen, Spears do quite well in front line.

No, it's definitely a swordsman. Look at the big picture of Gyebaek at the top of the page and compare that to the picture in the diagram.

Well some of the pictures seem to have been drawn in a different style, but the main difference is that the drawings they have are of the fully-upgraded mercs. Our pictures are of the un-upgraded ones.

don't forget that the game originates from korea, so they have the full upgrades, etc. hence why their pictures and system is more advanced to ours.
