after playing up to lvl 61 with my main gunner i've come to think tat he has not a very good tactical use... i mean compared to the other mains, this one doesn't have any usefull ability and doesn't hit as hard as the other mains, it also has a weak hp count and weak def.

He doesn't drain ap as spear (and has less hp and def)
doesn't freeze and doesn't do as much dmg as axe(and has less hp and def)
is not able to tank (as sw, or the other melee mains)
doesn't have any mean debuff like arty, and doesn't have as much AoE and stun (and has less hp)
ir doesn't keep your enemy's caster at bay like the archer
it doesn't help your team, like the staff main

sure he hits in a row, but that's it. No real advantage over other mercs... so this leads me to believe that he is just there to shoot ppl rly hard... but he doesn't... therefore he is not a strategical piece that will help your team
so...plz prove me wrong

Revelation! I started a gunner main and quickly came to hate it within lv11...As a ranged, cannons would've been better imo due to higher hp and deep insight. bow isn't half bad either due to a silence. I'm sorry but, I can not help in your downed sight of gunner mains.

In a brighter outlook, you can have one of those cookie cutter gun formation where you place them in the second/back row and will for multi squad fires. They are comparable to spear lines though weaker. They do however, reach the third row.

Almost forgot, you can use deadly shot to attempt to do a final takeout on the opponent's main.

but still, the reduced overall durability of the gunners reduces doesnt allow u to switch them to the front row to prevent a tank from getting killed... they r too soft-.-

And by using dedly shot... if u dont kill his main with them then gg... since your damaging force will be rendered useless for next several turns.

I'm extremely disapointed with my gun main =( and dont have enough resources to get one of those vials and change type :S

Well i don't really know whether gunners are good or not since i only had one for a short period of time. But i know it does hit 3rows so why not try a stunning build? 3gunners or mix in with arti or cannor or inven will make ur build deadlier. However if that is the case you will be seriously lacking in tankers. However i think might be viable since as long as you can survive 3turns you probably can stun a few enemies if not all. But that is just an assumption dunno whether is it viable or not. But if combine with seth or brut will it might just be something you will be looking forward to.

Well, gun mains can't be all too bad...they can hit a whole column, they have the ability to cast chaos wind, they can hit front row witches...

its i've been attempting to pull that off... with little succes. :S problem is with that is that u cant rotate you front line, therefore it has reduced survaval and then when they punch a hole in it, your chances to win r reduced a lot. right now in my formation i have:
sw/sw/bt
g/g/g
monk/witch/sh
i'll try siwitching one of them by an exo asap, since as far as i'm concerned he can be a good tank (or at least hang on till the other tank is healed)

The whole thing requires that you have top of the line equips for your frontline. and yes, deadly shot is a last resort thing, usually done near or on flashing hp. The only way I see how they would punch through your frontline is if they single target. In that case, you're always having your frontline guard, letting midline do damage and always healing with backline...Though healing doesn't heal for much in pvp due to massive hp boost.

Im a gun main and i like it a lot in pvp and pve. PvE, i need it badly for range since i have a lot of melees. + being able to wear main only rings really increases the dmg of my gun so i can last hit, or kill monsters in 1 turn easlily. PvP I find it very good to in my build. Just depends how u want to play.

Chaos Wind lvl 60 is really nice. Team that up with Deep Insight and Smoke and you have a lot of Aoe damage. Some love the gun some hate it. In the end i wihs i had gun instead of cannon main

Gunner main does seem a little weak because a regular gunner merc seem pretty much the same as a main beside chaos wind but all range main get that skill so kinda make gunner main a bit dull. There is really nothing i find gunner main tend to excel in. They dont hit much harder then their merc counter part. They dont tend to combo more often and their def and hp is a bit lacking compare to cannon main.

I play gunner because they are one of the least use class and I love playing under rated hero and hopefully one day be able to show ppl it is not that bad after all. Hoping that day will come soon as there will be more updates to come maybe the main only gun/rifle will finally make gunner main worthwhile or some other update but i am hopeful.

i've been having the same doubts about my gunner main lately. it just doesn't seem to have anything that makes it that much better then the other mains, so i've considered switching mains but its just a thought unless i can somehow get a vial of amnesia

well... just as someone said on a similar thread about the sword main.... lets just hope the upcoming major update helps our not-so-good-main xDxDxD

Anyway... i've been getting better at using the 3 gunner build and the main only equip helps him pack a mean punch :P ... at least that's something in his favor

SpirituZ used to have a willed gunline with gun main on thebes(when he played there..hes now on argos)

best thing to do would be something like a

:swm::swm::swm:
:mnk::exo::ora:
:femalehero:(gun):gun::can:

combo...switch ora for shaman for NS(she is in the second row=hurt a lot)

what you want to do is throw down HG before the enemy exo seals.and will the gunner line asap.when the monk starts taking hits(he will...cuz ppl mostly focuz on him) exchange him with a gunner backrow.

Well gunner sure is fun when you have your opponent's main in the 2nd row and you have more then 1 deadly shot with maxed out. Pull out a can of WTF as a last resort and win.

Both quests begins by multi-hued crystals of jewels so it's not cheap :p
