I'm pretty new to the game, maybe a week old. Right now I have hard time deciding which skills I should max, which ones I should leave alone.

[Axe][Sword][Sword]
[Spear][Spear(main)][Spear]
[Monk][Shaman]

I currently have 21 protect, 10 hg, and 12 awakening for Monk. 30 Bless of life, 1 Brutal will, 1 HoD for Shaman. I have a feeling I dumped too much in Protect. Any suggestions are welcomed :)

High end- you'll find yourself spamming Awakening often, and the Cross formation heal adds up over time as you're removing stun counters. Stacks awesome w/ Oracle heal too.

Not to mention you can spam like 3 awakenings if you are in some deep trouble.

Use the clever picture buttons below to make your formation...no need to type it.

Use the edit button with two consecutive posts.

Monk, if you want your main to tank, protect 60 with 1 holy guard for dispel sake and 30 awakening for soft heal.

Shaman, if you have a will build, max brutal and 40 heal, hex is weak to me, but it's imo.
Else max heal at 60 and do w/e you want with the other 40 will is only if you'll use it. +atk, +combo -hp per turn.

Too much protect? never! esp when you go in pvp. In pvm it' a huge mana drain though.

i Had a problem with monk too, is it wise to max holy guard ? or max awakening ? while shaman i believe everyone exchanges it for oracle in higher levels

What I've been told is:

50-60 protect
50-60 awakening
10-20 holy guard

This is AFTER vials of potential.

Dark Seed + HoD makes a few points of Hex well worht it IMO

Dark seed is NOT swordman main only, so wont work for this guy, thus dont get too high of hex of darkness. [Thx to MiaFLSurf for correcting this]

The basic guideline for skills for monk is get lvl 11 awakening at least. Coz this decreases the combo points by 2 and 2 is all you need. Going beyond that only increases the healing rate, nothing more. The rest is pretty much flexible but since you have a spear main, i suggest going max protect. However you will need to prepare to spam a lot of mana potions.

As for shaman, get healing as high as you can, the rest is up to you. I took noble sacrifice to lvl 11, just in case, but so far haven't used it yet so I can't comment too much on that.

PS: make sure you get an prophet since you got a hell lot of melees.

It is NOT for main sword only...

I have Dark Seed on my Sword Merc and it works great!

As they say in the south "I like the cut of your jib"

My HG is at 8 or something weird, might as well bring that sucker down to 1. Its important to me, but I ONLY use it to debuff my own will after 1-2 turns of CRAZY MAYHEM. So yeah, 1 point works.

@OP: The hex/dark seed combo is cool....but it requires you to invest a good amount of skill points in secondary, and crappy, skills. Your shaman should NEVER be hexing - she should be spamming heals while dropping an occasional brutal will down. Forget Hex, and max those two.

Same with swords - their primary role is not to DoT, its to absorb dmg and single-point finish things with flamesword / near-death move(I forgot the name...brain freeze >.<) Splitting points off from these two wont help you, and not having your shamans points in heals and will won't help you either.

Well, when I first started I knew nothing, and like a complete moron I put like 10 points in HoD....like 6 into BW.... and just used all books as I got them.

So now I feel like I wasted half of the potential to have a good Shammy.

To try and make up for it, I gave my sword merc a point in Dark Seed to at least feel like having 11 points in HoD was worth it.... but now I feel like I have to put even more into Dark Seed to make it anything good.

I guess I should just wait it out to get an Oracle? Thats what most people do, right? Replace Shammy with Oracle later?

That's very insightful. Thanks to HardcoreGamer too. Like you said the main job of Shaman/Oracle is to heal, nothing more nothing less. So healing should be the priority everything else is secondary. Gotcha :)

Meh, HoD and Deep Insight doesnt pack a big punch in PVE compared to PVP, so it doesnt matter actually. Normal attack can outdamage those DOT anytime, anywhere in PVE.

but u will use awakening most often, even more in the late game,so awakening is prio 1 to me
