Can someone please post or point me in the direction of a MONK skill guide?

I cant seem to find a good way to put his skills to use...

Awakening - what does it do, why is it great, etc?
Protect - how many points?
Holy guard - how many points?

Im sure the info is out there, I just cant find it.

The main problem with my monk... is that like an idiot, when I first started, I believe I put in 20 points into Protect and 20 into Holy Guard....

I feel like Ive totally ruined him and feel like I maybe should hire a new one to restart? (Rest of party is about lvl 50)

There's nothing wrong with 20 points in protect and 20 points in guard. With a higher guard, it means you're mercs are getting healed enough to keep them alive while they can't be healed. You'll want awakening atleast at lvl 11 though.

I agree with just keeping awakening to lvl11. No point since the max combo you actually want to decrease is 2. At combo 3 you will already be stunned. Then holyguard at higher level heals more and will be harder to dispel. For protect not much perferance but i just keep it at 21 since it consumes too much mana at higher levels.

awakening is a great anti aoe skill

heals in a + formation at level 50 upgrade

On the officiol forum, ppl say that koreans have different working aweking...
Here it can only reduce the combo to 0, and in korea i can even make it -1...

I have 21 protect, 40ish awakening, 21 holyguard.

Awakening is essential in any situation it's essential to keep your units from getting stunned (read how stun works...some thread somewhere) and ends up being a secondary heal. With speedcast from an exo, you can spam it up to two times a round even.

I've been told level 60 holyguard isn't as sure-thing to guardbreak, but that's something I haven't seen myself and wouldn't bother to find out personally.

For all that I've read about back/mid line mains to go SOP instead of protect, I can't really think any situation except 1/50 FL games in which my bow main didn't get a better deal out of my protect.

Holy Guard 20+ is nice for the extra healing like mentioned above, but what players have noticed is that an 11 Guard Dispel rarely fails even vs. 40+ HG.

A lot of this is how you want your monk to work, there is no "optimal build". But the things mentioned above are about right, I am a fan of high level protect but not everyone is. Etc.

This is helpfull..... I guess having Protect and Holy Guard at 21 can have benefits...then putting all the rest in awakening... that is what I will do since I am at 20 protect and holy guard already.

Dont worry too much. All the skills are useful and there is really no wrong way of skilling him. It just depends on what you really want him to do. Some ppl would get high protect and just a few in awake and some in HG.
Other might leave protect low and get high awaking and HG.

It really depends on what you see are more important to you. I personally leave protect at lv 1 as it is a mana drainer if you bring it too high and the benefit of protect for my main is pretty usless to have higher then lv 1. Of course this is just for my main not what i am suggesting for you.
I perfer higher lv awakening then protect as I find the benefit is greater there for my formation. But again there is really no wrong way to skill a monk.

Just need lv 11 in awakening and the rest you do what u feel is best. Only wrong way to skil a monk is not learning awakening.

I'm definitely sold on Protect and Awakening. I don't need SoP for my Axe main, I like the proactive defense rather than the reactive. I'm still wondering about Holy Guard. Is there any significant difference between a HG 1 and an HG 21? For my play style, I don't plan on using HG as a defensive tool, but rather as a debuff, and a way to turn off Brutal/Seth's will. In this respect, is there any difference from a lvl 1 or a higher lvl Holy Guard? Is the small healing from it even worthwhile to pump?

I agree with Methane, the main purpose of awakening is to reduce combo, while protect it is better to max it

-1... lol, why even have a stun system then? As if scrolls didnt already screw stun builds over enough.
