Need Advice please

Hi guys. Iv been playing AO for about 1 week now. Im remaking my build again as I messed up...

My main is a Cannon and this is what I was thinking my build to look like at 30.
IF anyone has any insight of what Skills and formation to go with please let me know.

Current Formation plan for 30:

This is for PVP

On their own spearmen aren't too useful in pvp. I'd recommend either getting 2 swords or keeping 2 spears... making your frontline something like
:swm::swm::vik:
or
:spm::spm::vik:

and keep your mid/back lines the same

other than that, your lvl 30 formation is fine

as for skills:
Monk: First, get Awakening up to 11... Next Put a point into HG then start maxing Protect/SoP. The rest of your points can be used for w/e after that
Shaman: Blessing of Life & Noble Sac
Gun: Wild Shot & Deadly Shot
Main: Chaos Wind
Spear: Lightning Spear
Viking: Freeze
Sword: Flame Sword

and between swordie vs spearmen...
swordie are better tanks, and are better spikers
spears are better for control (AP Drain + Freeze + Stun? ouch >.>)

I would favor two swords over a sword and spear. The spears strength is it's AP drain and having only one in your party makes so-so in effectiveness. The swords are great tanks, while limited in damage output. So unless you want a second spear I'd double up swords.

I did make one change to my setup.

Replaced the :gun: for :arc: so I can get Silence on the mobs..Good move?

instead of REPLACING the gun, it'd probably be better to just ADD the archer. That gun is really helpful for getting stuns in PvP and is pretty useful for firing down mobs in PvE

This will be a decent formation for PvE @ lvl 50. For PvP, simply drop the archer or a gun for an exo when you hit lvl 57.
