yes that build will work. Also spearmen tanks better than viking. so put your spearmen in front centre to take the hardest damage from axe mercenaries.

one of your spaces will be occupied by an exorcist. The other i recommend you get an archer because knocking scrolls will be difficult for your formation without one. Archers have a higher chance to combo than gunners i think.
You could also consider putting your musicianM at the front row to move viking to second row but your monk will need SOP then.
