Hi umm im new to this game and i really dont no what im getting in to except that it a turn base MMO and i would really like some help with the game and what a good class to start with and stat bulid or would the NPC tell me all this when i start playing the game??

Hi- welcome to ATO. ^_^ Most people recommend an Axe or ranged main (Bow/Cannon) for beginners. Axe would be my choice if I were to start over but that it the most common hero class by far. Stats are fixed/ random when upgraded with vials so don't worry about that yet... however, read the mercenary guides to plan your formation early in the game so that you don't recruit mercs that will be replaced by more powerful versions later.

Anyways, welcome to the game, as for the classes, choose the one that you'd like. Axe mains have the majority of the game. Stats aren't allocatable, it's random assignment with growth vials (like Kelnari said). The tutorial walks you through the basics and there's a helpful in game guide for mercs towns etc.

The basic generic formation would be
Melee
Range
Magic

So that melee take hits and the other 2 classes are safe.

I also recommend axe. Yes i am one myself :D. Also if you gonna go for spear go in pairs or triple for max efficient. For Axe he pretty much is weak against magic attacks since he has low magic defense. Once again before i forget. Welcome Here To atlantica fansite and Atlantica itself!

According to most player, axe is the best main throughout the game because of their high hp and the ability to freeze in PVP..
I also like archer, they are pretty nasty if you have a nice ranged team.. (Sniping)

Be sure to get a nice mentor who is in the same timezone as you, i recomend cannon main :D

Welcome to AO! I'm kind of new as well (past level 30, but started just a week ago so still learning the ropes), and I went for a Cannon main. Haven't regretted it yet :D Would have gone for Axe otherwise.

As for the learning curve of the game, it's not too steep. Just follow and listen to the quests and they'll ease you into the game basics in no time. Don't be afraid to ask questions in Peer channel or via Help Request either.

Hello and welcome to AO =) As you can see...most people recommend an axe as a main character, but that's really a tasteless choice imo. Look through each of the main characters and see what you like. Test out a couple of characters also.

Everybody pick axe is is powerful and it can attack 2-3 people at the same time. Sword is ok, but is rather kinda weak, you can only attack one person in the row but the shield made up for it, and spear is also ok for a main, high def, and can attack 2 people at the same time. really depend what are you into and what are your plan to build for pvp or pve.

Monk,Viking, and witch are not classes, they are mercs.
like the mercs you pick up in the begining of the game, you will get them farture into the game :)

The thing about axe main is that if you have healing passive skills on your team he is next to invincable.

I am a cannon main. I enjoy stunning and I can normally pick up a lot of loose ends in battle. However there is a moment in time in pvp where peopl use a monks cross awakening, (which takes away stun combo's) and he is rather useless untill later on.

The only problem with axe mains, is when you fight bosses that can aoe, with a gunner as main, one aoe from machine goddess can almost kill me. Most people with axe mains will put their mains in the front and in shadow dungeons, they can die quite easily.
