i'm just curious about this .. Atlantica Game Info says nation's Kings get access to items and distinguished mercs that no other player can possess.

As far as mercs are concerned, there aren't particular mercs in game atm that fit this description. Everything is available to all players with the exception of spartan and pirate since they're i guess not in game yet (at least it's what's been going around). For items, I think it may refer to what you call it....King's Judgment? Where it allows the nation to pk for 24 hrs.

Getting mercs would be silly. Would they get to keep those mercs if their nation disbanded and they lost king status?

It probably run off when they lose their King's status and wander around like all mercs do. Then, you have to pay them to make them follow you again, and the price will depends on the level of that merc. D: *daydreams*

The other possibility would be that there is some extensive guild questing or whatnot. The part I was imagining though would be that perhaps the get access to Summon Marbles, and can of course make incredibly huge amounts of money selling exclusive mercs out. If this is what happens, that would answer whether they can keep them or not.

Though I wonder if there should be a limit to how many you can get, or perhaps you have to stick with that guild or pay some sort of maintenance.

Kings also have the ability to use King's Judgement a couple times a day, it allows them to PK a player and recieve a random item of theirs.
