How to get riding points?

You trade your horse in to Collector Ahammad outside of Baghdad. He'll give you 70 riding points for each Thoroughbred. Then you can get a Hackney for 140 riding points from Pointry in Rome.

the event treasure maps dont count -.-. I know about heavenly horses from gm battles and weekly tourneys...

You can always get the horses off of market and trade them in..In thebes, they're going close to 7m per for the most basic horse.

yeah... sadly, im guessing thats the case since I have not uncovered any other alternative method so far to getting a horse.

Yes, those horses come from those mount boxes, there's no other place. Treasure maps give temp horses only. Anyways, the mount box is not completely fair random where each horse has the same chance to appear. It, at least logically, would be skewed so that those basic horses appear more. It's a marketing ploy. =]

Sorta like how NO ONE got a heavenly horse from those fortune boxes (or if anyone did, they aren't bragging about it. It's raaaare)

I guess lots of people are buying and opening mount boxes hoping for a Shire and selling the thoroughbreds off. You can't buy a shire or up with mount points so opening tons of mount boxes until you get lucky is the only way.

sadly I have yet to even see a shire on macedon server yet. I want one so badly lol. You could always win the Weekly Tournie and trade the 7day heavenly in for riding points.

You can't trade 7day horses in for points. :(

There are at least a couple of Shires on Mycenae, but I haven't seen many.

That seems fairly hard to get, so what are the huge benefits of horses, or do you just go faster?

Some horses are faster, while some give bonus stats to the main character

Well the +5 vit doesn't do much on the white horse, I haven't seen the stats on the other mounts yet.

The Byzantine riders claim their 1k defense is applied during FL battles and PVP. /shrug

I don't see why the stats wouldn't apply, unless the developers said otherwise. Sure, it might seem unfair, but it'd also be kinda unfair to tell someone that all that money and time they spent aquiring 3000 gold tusks was useless in PvP. ...that and I'm sure they want to encourage you to buy mounts and heavenly horse crapshoots from the cash shop.

I mean well 1k defense does mean a lot in pvp. But well since item all get nerfed to +4 or +2(not sure which is the exact value). It was done to make sure that a person with imba gear wont always own the one with average or weak gear. Its more about skills in pvp. Then again with elephant and mount's bonus effect. You can always go for pve? i am sure the stats bonus surely apply there. And well not only that but mount looks awesome.

So where do mount boxes come from? I'm curious to know if there is a way to get mount besides market, winning GM & tournaments. Better if there is a way to get a perm one in-game, but I quite honestly doubt it.

I wasn't looking at the elephant tusk elephants but more of the mounts from mount boxes. Ex. heavenly horse? If we categorize mounts as gear, this once again shifts attention from skills to gears. Granted, it's not a strong shift like massive enchants, but its a slight shift. Let's say you have a twin and both in last round of tourney, your exact clone, thinks, behaves and all the things done is like you. He has a mount, you don't...who'd win?

You'd still have to have the exact same rolls on dodge/crit/multi-hits but I get where you're going with it... yes, the mount gives an unfair advantage vs. those without. But hey, gear has to account for at least a marginal difference or there wouldn't be anything worth buying. =)

More money and luck = more power in MMOs. This stuff gets you mounts (and uber equpment/charms/guardian stones/levels/skill books/spartans). That's the way of MMO life!

Fighting naked, that'd be a nice match to see. And I'm not saying that they can't enjoy it. It's just that it puts an advantage to them. Anyways, the 20%+ MS is still nice thing to have on mounts even if it came without stat bonuses.

If the mount actually appeared in battle, that would be nice.

Currently you can only exchange hackney for 140 riding points from pointy. Haven heard of any news that there will be new mount coming out for exchange anytime soon.
