Dismantling experience

Why is it that dismantling items sometimes yields craft experience, whilst at other times it does not? I've already ruled out the level of an item being a factor. I've dismantled both Spirit and Walachia gear and received no craft experience at times.

Seems odd- I've dismantled thousands of items and always gotten exp for anything sea king and above. Spirit equips always yield 0 exp for me though.

I think it's a fraction of the craft workload it takes to make the item rounded down (which is why spirit equipment gives nothing for dismantling). This also means that Asura and Dark Knight gear gives no exp for dismantling (because they have no workload in the first place because they are uncraftable)

Through my dismantling experience, I've most always gained xp from dismantling craftable items sea king and up. However, it does require at least 1 lvl in the craft to gain exp...learned that some how..

Most of item that is above sea king lvl are tend to gains some craft exp

That's because those items actually have enough craft workload to not round down to 0 when a fraction of it is given to you for dismantling, I think.

I think that dismantling exp depends on how much materials you get. When i dismantle, i got more exp as i got more materials for dismantling and less exp when i got little materials from dismantling. Also, you have to have the crafting skill of that equip ur dismantling (eg. gun craft for dismantling guns) in order to get the experience.

I have always received experience for dismantling anything ABOVE spirit gear. I have gotten to Lvl 11 in quite a few skills solely from Dismantling.

Common misconception. Spirit items do yield experience for that particular skill. I do not know if the count goes into the .001's but a +5 item of spirit will yield 1 or so extra, maybe even 2 if its +7. The plausible workload percent is possible. It does seem to work around that, since we don't know that for fact it seems most reasonable to comapre dismantle exp to workload if crafted. Sometimes if it has a fixed cost, it revolves around that too.

The shards from all items varies between 3 numbers. A low medium and high type of count. Experience is connected with the shards. So if you dismantle a lvl 90 eq, you might get 4k exp and minimal shards, or you get the high end and get 7.5k exp with the max amount of shards.

Dismantling is a great way to get experiences, I think bran boxes are the best to dismantle since they are so easy to get and this is how I got some of my weapons/armour skills up without even crafting a single item.

Dismantling is only viable if you are rich enough to dismantle things meaning instead of selling the item you dismantle them for the shards and craft exp. However it does provides a fair amount of craft exp and that crafting items to get exp also will get costly towards the end. It will be good if someone can give us a exact value of how much craft exp we can get before we can make a judgement whether or not is it really worth to dismantle for exp or not.

strange - i always get exp. Got almost every Craftskill above 11 now couse i dismantle sometimes :D

Yeah you must have at least lvl 1 in the skill that you are dismantling to get xp, even if you dismantle bran equips, you wont get xp if you don't have the skill.

i had to level up some skills really fast so tested it on an amon cannon. The numbers are not exact, but I got around 1450-1500 xp per cannon. Why dismantle it rather then sell it? If they are selling for so little it means you lose money then it is better to just junk them. Same with crafted items honestly. If you craft say 15 wala heavies and they all come out naked (+0) then break them down for the extra exp and maybe it pushes you over the top for next level

Dismantling Shoes gives 0,002% EXP of the original workload.
Tested with Dragon Breath Shoes, Amon's Chain Boots and Walachia Shoes

Dragon Breath Shoes: 2733 EXP
Amon's Chain Boots: 361,4 EXP
Walachia Shoes: 47,8 EXP

Dunno whats the formula for upgraded stuff tho.

i got lvl 25 in sword .. and i've tried dismantling some swords ocean-rakasha-destroyer recently .. and i got the shards but i didnt get any xp .. i stoped trying after 6 swords .. so what happened ?

Could you not be looking at refreshed xp points? I.e., you're looking at the exp amount before you dismantled. Because as long as I have at least level 1 in something, I have never failed to get xp in ocean gear and higher.

Strangely enough, I've gotten around the same armor experience dismantling assassin items and walachia items - around 40 EXP each.

I'm not sure if the percentage of crafting laws only holds for higher level equips or if EXP earned scales down with armor levels, though in my experience, most of the items that I dismantle (rakhasha and above) yields around the same exp - 40.

personally i don't find the amount of experience that you get from dismantling to be worth it, so i just sell the items and use that money to craft more, and therefore get large amounts of exp still for my craft

I agree with Vrael, don't think dismantling is worth it so i just sell crafts

Dismantling for shards at higher lvl is not worth it... But I do get around 20 exp per seaking EQ dismantle and 50 for rakshasa, and it always stays constant.
