Here's my current formation:

And frankly, I don't know who to give up for the Inventor, if I should give up anybody at all.
I was thinking the witch... my reasoning: Yes, I love her AOE damage. But she can only use that once out of how many turns? 4-6? I'd rather have something that was a bit more constant and/or could add more stun preasure.
BUT, here's my main problem; I can't afford to buy hardly anything. All of my mercs have recently started to reach level 80, and it's costing me an arm and a leg (And I think a testicle somewhere.) to afford the jewels to upgrade them. Let alone their outdated weapons and armor. (I think my Viking is still using a +5 level 50 pants when he's level 80 :/ )
So even if I did the quest to get an Inventor, would it be worth keeping or giving somebody up for? Atm I don't even know if I Could afford his level 20 crystals, let alone his level 50 or higher.
And if he is worth getting and giving somebody up for, who should he replace?
P.S. I assume a Canoneer is better for PVP than an Artillery guy, yes? What exactly does his mana attack do?
Atm I only use my Artillery guy in PVP for stun preasure, and RARELY ever do I use his mana attack. (Mostly if all the other guy's mercs are looking hurt, I'll use it just for a bit more DoT and to better tell who I should focus fire on. But that only happens once out of maybe every 6-10 fights?)
However, I use his mana attack in EVERY fight for PVE. It just makes things so much easier in my experience.
So I suppose my second question is; What does a Canoneer do over the Artillery guy that makes him a better choice? And, should I only use him for PVP, or is he also better in PVE aswell?
