Which ranged merc can produce the most damage output ?

Lately I've been considered this issue. Prophet, Janissary, Archer and Inventor(with Ballista) look cool. However, which one of these mercs can produce the most damage in your opinion ? Please gimme some comments about this, thank you very much !

Personally I think so too. However, if you pick a Jani, isn't it better to just run a Gun main ? He has his damage output as high as a "Shooting Stance" Jani, and he's absolutely not easy to kill as a Jani. What do you think ?

It depends what type of dmg are u refering to. Total dmg i would agree on Jan but highest dmg a just a number i would say a bow user. If you snipe another range merc it could reach 3k+ range on a crit where Jan cant because you will most likely be hitting a melee tank which usually be around 2.5k even on crit.

i, being a gun main, will say that in PvP, Jani with shooting stance does more dmg. In pve, im not sure because i have an uber musket ^^

I would have to say either jani or maybe dark archer, simply because bows do so much dmg right now (especially to other range mercs) Also, with a bow, you choose where your dmg goes, while with jani, you can only choose a row.

A bow can do a lot of damage on a single target, while a gun can do a whole row of damage -- but in decreasing amounts.

Personally I'd go with Jannisary with Shooting Stance. Dark Archer too. I think they're pretty much in the same league, especially with the AoE attack of a DA... (:

Any gun merc/main with Shotgun Will do imba Damage Handsdown, Janni + 10 shotgun and a gun Main with the same weapon along with Inventor can pretty much win you a match.

talking about pve only :
why is janni better then inv ? only because of shooting stance ? since accordin to stats it looks like inv has a better atk then janni ?

at pve, my jani on maxed shooting stance, using a +2 divine gun, hits just about as hard as my spearman using a +5 divine spear. inventor can't do that.

Jani without shooting stance hits alot harder than inventor already. By a huge margin too (40%ish - both using +10 shotgun)

thats because the most recent or 2nd most recent patch, guns got a huge nerf on dmg (gunner main did a little less dmg, inventor does alot less dmg)

however, jani got dmg BUFF, so it does even more dmg

oh, and the range unit with the most dmg output is...Xargrr's cannoneer! (+10 phoenix cannon...)

Bow is strong when u aim for a single target
Gun is for more than one target.
I would say the best is jani because shooting stance is pretty good.

if i recall correctly, that cannon does like 2.5k to range mercs right under the target, such as inventors and janis.

if you want a good comparison, go to aoacademy.lifetorch.org and look up the xargrr vs sophilla video. he uses his cannoneer to SNIPE the enemy main. certainly no archer, but if you count the splash damage, it actually is greater than an archer, which targets a single spot, and may even be more than a jani (to range mercs, that is)

i agree with zpirit if you want total dmg you should take Jani if not then take inventor for stun
