So it seems the reason sword mains are weak is because int and dex do nothing for melee damage or performance, and main characters get a more even stat distribution than mercs. Hopefully once they change the stat formulas it'll fix the problems with mains.
We had a long session with the developers today. The employees of nDoors were very kind to us and the developers seemed sincerely concerned about our questions. Pretty much all the nDoors employees were taking notes. They also asked us how we felt about the game and what other games we played in order to get a feel for what we wanted in new games to come. Without further ado here are the answered questions.
1) Will storage space in Rome ever increase?
The developers are considering an inventory increase and extra guild/nation storage areas.
2)When will mentor points be usable?
This feature is coming soon, they haven't decided on what to put it into but they said they have many possibilities. They are also working to improve the mentor system as a whol.
3) Will arena hours ever be changed to accommodate European players?
It really depends on how many European players actually play. Since the fun of the Arena is based on how many players participate if there are not many then it won't be as fun. They will open more arena times when more European players join. "It isn't racism" lol
4) Will the rewards for the Weekly Championships ever be changed up?
They are coming up with ideas for new rewards, if you have any please share your opinion.
5) How do str/dex/int/vit affect a character's attributes and why aren't evasion and critical rate shown in the character info screen?
Right now, except for vit, str/dex/int only apply to its complimenting mercenary type. For example, str ONLY affects melee, dex only affects range, and int only affects magic. More int on a merc will not increase its skill attack. They are in the process of making each stat affect all mercs somehow. They did not give us the exact breakdown for each stat because they said it is the player's job to figure this out; it will take out the fun otherwise. As for evasion and critical rate, this always changes when you battle depending on the level difference of them monster/player. There isn't a real way to show this on the screen.
6) How is nDoors planning to keep Atlantica fresh and exciting for higher levels?
They are planning to add race/faction competitions in terms of level/strength and stuff. They are also adding more special skills for main characters so that mains will begin to lead the mercenaries instead of the other way around. They are also going to add more cool weapons and armors. They also told us that there is a big update with higher level content coming soon within a few months so look out for that.
7)PK before nation wars questions - dropping items - sealing to protect etc...
They are considering better ways to change pk. They might even take out dropping items completely. They might also change it so there is a pvp flagging system or that attackers are only at risk of losing items. They are open to the community's opinion on how pvp should change.
8)Why doesn't nDoors make the Auction house more popular by adding it to each town?
They said that this is a great idea and they will implement it in the future.
Questions brought up during the Q&A session:
1)Will we be able to add stats to unique/special items or weapons/armors.
There are working on a way to implement this.
2)Can you guys make the points show in pvp stay on the screen somewhere instead of briefly appearing after each move?
They thought this was a great idea and will implement it also.
3)Bring back 7 man!
Yes
4)Will we be able to change the looks of mercenaries in the future so we can differentiate our mercs from others?
This is actually a limitation of the Internet. Having unique mercenaries for everyone would cause too many packets to be flying around between the server and players causing lag. There would also be a way bigger client and they need to keep in mind that not all countries have broadband or fast internet. They might implement a way to change the color of your merc's clothing.
The developers were very attentive and answered our questions thoroughly. They would like to hold more Q&A sessions for the players; perhaps a chat room or webcam meeting or something.
As for the two stamina developers, one was on a plane to the USA and the other just started his mandatory military service so they escaped our grasps.
