Unless you are confident you can kill off you enemy (boss!!) before they can start ripping off you frontline.... you can try. Maybe a bot's build, lvl62+ and still in bran

it is possible.. seen a lvl 95 axe main with both princess & prophet..
his formation looks like this
Swordman -- BT -- LK
Archer -- Gunner -- Archer
Axe(main) -- Prophet -- Princess
not sure myself if this works but he seems to prove something there..
lets hope he can continue with this for 95-100..

AoE-Pressure and death rush builds can survive without a shaman or oracle. I have both, yet my current PvP formation includes neither.

Healing isn't very effective in PvP, so you probably don't need a shaman for that, necessarily (although Brutal Will can be niiiice for many builds).
In PvM, though, life will be hard. There are, however, other ways of healing, albeit weaker (Prophet and Princess combo miiiight work, for example).

Shaman is still useful for PVP. Just switch it out with a oracle and if u have a melee build or range build. Seth/Brutal will can turn in the game for you. Of course thats based on what there hitting when there confused.

U don't really need shaman/oracle i seen one of the gms cannon main just had a monk and princess for heals and it worked pretty good.

No shaman? ORACLE! haha...
Anyways, there are ways to do without a direct healer, you'd just concentrate on dishing damage. Keep in mind though that its 5 people per turn so having 9 attacker's isn't very helpful.

It's very rare seeing formations w/o Shaman/Oracle. Maybe for PvP when you know you opponent is going with a certain formation, and you think you'd gain an upper hand by having another damage dealer. Otherwise, you'll have to rely on foods and potions throughout the game. Its too time consuming without the Shaman/Oracle in my opinion.

I'm in Div11 Mycenae server and don't have much trouble without oracle/shaman. In PvP it's not a big issue.
Me and amberian from macedon ... we are among the tops pvps ... and we both dont use oracle or shaman ... never been a problem ... whoever u will have lots of troubles with AOE builds, so it recomended to have lots of purification scrolls for that matter and u will be fine

I've actually had a change of opinion after seeing the heals. Perhaps it is caused by the low level healing that I have but my shaman at ~lv25 blessing heals for a little more than 1k hp. Not much considering the pvp max hp on main is ~8k and damage output goes above 900 per hit. You may be better off with a disabler than a healer...then again...Perhaps keeping a healer for pve and then leveling and alternative merc for pvp would be better.

Shaman heals too little in PvP compared to PvE, so it's entirely possible to do without one. Sure, having 9 attackers isn't that viable due to the 5 per turn rule, but then again, the same can be said for 8 attackers and 1 healer.
Even if PvE, it's entirely possible to do without shaman. One of my friends still brags about how he beat bosses all the way to bran castle with no healer, using only unit rotation and "kill the boss before she kills me" tactics. Apparantly works even on Elizabeth and Dracula.

Unless that one healer is the monk!

I highly doubt that you use monks primarily for healing, so the bald dudes do not count =p.

I think the most important mercenary in PvP is the Monk, but we can't count him as a healer. On the other hand Oracle is very nice since she can cast Set's Will, but not for her healing abilities.

In pvp its not so important as it was mentioned the healing in pvp ain't as good as in pve, in PvE it gets trickier, specially on bosses who aint stunable, frozen etc, doesnt mean its not doable anyway :) youll have to pack alot of food though hehe

Shamans are weak in pvp, that's my opinion.
But don't go without a monk! Without holy guard, you are as good as sitting duck, PVE or PVP. My reason for this is due to my experience at Babylon's Hanging Garden. Once you get there you will know what I mean.

shamans arent weak in pvp...their healing is,just like the oracles healing is.
brutal will/NS can turn the tide of a battle in pvp if used at the right time.

What I meant by weak is its defense. Among my 3rd row, it always dies 1st, PVE or PVP. I would swap with Oracle as soon as I get it, since it has better defense and better heals.
although it is true that i would sacrifice(no pun intended D:) my shaman before my monk or proph i still dont see how she could die that fast :p
i mean if the enemy reaches your back row then its game over for u neways hmm? :>
nvm the controlled ninjas in shogun who 1 shot merc and main alike!
heres a hint:use vit rings for your shaman/oracle instead of mana since you really dont need the extra mana OR the extra damage...i even use hp rings on monk for those archer builds.

yeah, vit rings are the way to go but the damn quest at mohenjodaro asks u to craft int rings so might as well use it. =/

Oracle in most cases is quite interchangable with shaman...

well... yesterday a fought a guy who had no shaman/oracle and no monk; instead he got a prophet and a princess, combining that with intelligent merc switching and it can give u quite a headache (in the end i just deadly-shot his main in the face and gg)

Guess what? I'll be trying a no shaman build just for the fun of it. Probably, pve-wise, i'd be potion chugging. I might update on how I fare. ^ ^
Picked bow(M) - Thanks nerdydan for answering the post on what main. decided to try ranged since main account runs melee-heavy formation.
